Courtney Conlogue Honored

The Physical Education and Athletics Departments celebrated the success of student-athlete Courtney Conlogue, class of 2010, at town meeting on Thursday, December 3rd. Courtney won the US Open of Surfing Women's Division this past July. In addition to her surfing accomplishments, Courtney has found time to be an athlete for Sage Hill throughout her high school experience. She has participated on the cross country and track and field teams. Her coach Khara Covington writes, "Courtney is the kind of athlete that can jump into any situation and have a strong showing. She has been involved in numerous events for track, including pole vault, long jump, 4x400 relay, open 200 and open 400 meters. She is willing and able to do whatever is needed to help the team."

What is so special about Courtney is her dedication to earning the Sage Hill cap and gown and graduating with her friends, while also balancing a strenuous training and travel schedule so that she can compete professionally in her demanding sport. She is a role model for so many because of her humility, courage and determination to meet her goals.

After viewing a video presentation of Courtney riding the waves, the student body gave her a huge applause. Courtney spoke beautifully and very emotionally, giving thanks to the Sage Hill community, all of her teachers and her friends for supporting her and giving her an awesome high school experience. It was easy to see that Courtney's heart will always be bigger than the waves she rides. A photo recognizing Courtney for her many accomplishments will be hung in the Athletics/Physical Education hallway.
