Sage Hill Bids ‘Salvete Omnes’ to State Junior Classical League

By Daniel Langhorne
The Sage Hill Junior Classical League (JCL) will host hundreds of high school students at the Southern California Regional Amici Madness, affectionately known as SCRAM, on Saturday, November 16.

This annual event boosts the academics, arts and athletics associated with Ancient Rome and the Classical era. Sage Hill’s campus will be decorated under the theme of Homer’s "Odyssey."

"Sage JCL has spent many months pouring creativity and hard work into making this event shine,” said California JCL Southern Representatives Baominh Dang ‘25 and Claire Sueyoshi ‘25. “Conventions are always full of life and capture the spirit of the JCL community like nothing else, so we are excited to have everyone join us this month!"

In addition to workshops by Sage Hill Latin students, Classics Studies professors from UC Irvine, UCLA and Concordia University are slated to present to attendees.

“A small but mighty band of students has been working hard since the spring to put on this amazing event, and we are so grateful when our faculty and staff are able to help volunteer on the day of so that we can show our Sage Hill pride,” Sage JCL Adviser and Latin teacher Dr. Jeffrey Feland said.
