Week 4, July 28-August 1
Whether you're a budding marine biologist or just curious about the ocean, this is your chance to discover the incredible creatures and ecosystems that make our planet’s ocean waters so fascinating. After all, one of the most famous coastlines in the world sits in our own backyard! Spend time with our very own marine biologist and dive into the wonders of the world ocean, where you will explore key themes in marine biology, physical oceanography, and issues of conservation. From the colorful coral reefs to the mysterious deep sea, you will discover the incredible creatures and ecosystems that call the ocean home. Additionally, you will investigate everything from currents to waves to hurricanes. In the lab, you will take a look at real ocean specimens and participate in lab-based activities that highlight those themes we discuss. You will also be able to dissect and photograph specimens. Whether you’re interested in marine life, environmental science, or just want to get out of the house this summer, you’ll leave with new knowledge, skills, and a deeper appreciation for our oceans.
