Pavle Filipovic joined Sage Hill School in 2017 as the head coach for the water polo and swim & dive teams as well as aquatics coordinator. Coach Filipovic grew up playing for the world-renowned Partizan WPC in Belgrade, Serbia. He played water polo and swam at Long Beach City College and played D1 NCAA water polo at Cal State Long Beach.

He earned a bachelor’s in Political Science from Cal State Long Beach and master’s in Teaching and Education from National University.

Before Sage Hill, Coach Filipovic coached water polo and swimming at Long Beach City College, Newport Harbor High School, and Harvard-Westlake School. In 2018, he started working in the Sage Hill College Counseling Office as the office coordinator.
Coach Filipovic has coached some of the country’s top water polo clubs such as Vanguard Aquatics, Newport Beach WPC, LAWPC, and Shore Aquatics. He is Club Director and Head Coach for Imperial WPC, which holds practices at Sage Hill School.

As an assistant coach of USA Water Polo Men’s Youth National Team, he traveled to Podgorica, Montenegro, for the Youth World Championships.

Coach Filipovic and his wife, Nicollette, welcomed their son Nikola in 2022.
